  • ADISA Announces 2020 President-Elect and Officers

    At its first Board meeting of the year, the new ADISA (the Alternative & Direct Investment Securities Association) Board, elected by the membership in late 2019, selected its 2020 officers. Larry Sullivan of Passco Companies begins his term as the 2020 ADISA president (having been elected president-elect in 2019), and Brian Buehler of Triton Pacific Securities was elected as the 2020 president-elect and will serve as president in 2021. The other ADISA officers selected were: Sherri Cooke of AI Insight as vice president; Ann Moore of International Assets Advisory as secretary; and Mark Kosanke of Concorde Investment Services as treasurer. Greg Mausz of Preferred Capital Securities, ADISA’s 2019 president, will serve the Board as its immediate past president.

  • ADISA Testifies at Massachusetts Securities Division Hearing

    On January 7th, the Division held a public hearing regarding this proposal, where ADISA Legislative & Regulatory Committee member John Grady, a partner with Practus, LLP, testified to bring to light concerns with the proposed regulation and to underscore the importance of having any regulation take into account the unique nature of alternative investments.

  • ADISA Submits Comment Letter to Massachusetts Securities Division Re: Proposed Fiduciary Regulations

    ADISA submitted a letter to the Massachusetts Securities Division in response to their request for comments on the proposal to amend 950 Mass. Code Regs 12.200 as they relate to the standard of conduct applicable to broker-dealers, agents, investment advisers and investment adviser representatives.

ADISA holds democratic elections hosted by a neutral online vendor, and the elections are open to all member categories (with a maximum of three votes per firm).

In the letter, ADISA responded to one topic in particular and supported an expanded “accredited investor” definition mentioned in the Concept Release.

This includes private offerings as well as the accredited investor definition — matters that are crucial to our industry. In the past few years these exemptions have grown more complex, and ADISA and other trade associations in the investment space are certainly willing to take a look at a comprehensive review.”
