ADISA Continues to Provide Education, Networking & Advocacy for Professionals in the Alternative & Direct Investment Securities Industry

The Alternative & Direct Investment Securities Association (ADISA), the nation’s largest association in the alternative and direct investments industry, is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

In 2003, a group of 1031 exchange tenant-in-common sponsors and broker-dealers gathered at the Denver airport, and the idea of the Tenant-in-Common Association (TICA) was born. Included at the initial meeting were: Greg Paul, Tim Snodgrass, Bill Winn, Patricia DelRosso, Clay Womack, Dick Lipton and Louis Rogers. A follow-up meeting was scheduled in Salt Lake City to establish the association, with the main goal to help professionals working in securitized tenant-in-common offerings.

In July 2007, TICA was officially established as an association. The first offices were established at the Inland office in Chicago, and a professional office lease was signed in December 2007 for dedicated space in Indianapolis. By 2008, association members included not just TIC sponsors, but also non-traded REITs and oil & gas royalty firms. With the expansion of ADISA's audiences, the 2009 National Event was recognized as the first Real Estate Investment Securities Association (REISA) event. With the growth in product mix and the need for education for additional offerings, REISA’s board of directors decided on a name change to reflect the broadened membership base in 2014, with Alternative & Direct Investment Securities Association (ADISA) as the name chosen.

Today, ADISA’s membership has grown to more than 4,500 individual members who are key decision makers influencing more than 220,000 financial service professionals involved in alternative investments. ADISA continues to host three industry-leading events each year (Spring Conference, Alts Research & Due Diligence Forum, and Annual Conference & Trade Show), which bring together a unique, diverse group of professionals under one roof for face-to-face connections and topical education.

“We are very excited to mark the 20th anniversary of ADISA. It gives us the opportunity to celebrate both the history and the growth of the association, while always providing educational and networking opportunities for our members, and actively lobbying for our members’ interests on Capitol Hill,” said ADISA’s Executive Director John Harrison. “We also thank our volunteer leadership over the past two decades who have worked to maintain the integrity and reputation of our industry by promoting the highest ethical standards.”
